Local Crate

I had the opportunity to work with a team to collect user feedback and data for a Twin Cities based meal subscription program called, Local Crate. Local Crate wanted to know more about the efficiency of their website and through both remote and in lab usability testing we were able to come up with findings and recommendations based on the data we collected.

Methods Used

Usability Review - Remote and In-Lab Usability Testing - Data Synthesis

Tools Used

Trello - Axure

The goals we had were to determine whether the site portrayed the value and functionality of Local Crate as well as if potential subscribers saw the merit and if current subscribers could easily edit their information and contents of their meal “crate”. I worked within a team to perform an initial Heuristic Analysis based on tasks we came up with. After that it was onto remote usability testing. In person testing took place the next day at Fathom. It was incredibly interesting to hear the different opinions of those testing the site and there was a whole array of feedback. After we wrapped up the testing we laid out all of the raw data we gathered in a Trello board and got to work synthesizing.

BRINGING IT TOGETHER

The team split up to write individual Findings and Recommendations reports for Local Crate, then extended the information further and put one of the ideas into action using Axure. Overall this was a really fun project to work on and Local Crate is on the right track with their website. Implementing some of these small changes could improve usability for their existing customers and help make the process and experience even smoother for new users.
